4 Top Photo Printing & Personalised Gifts Companies

How to choose a photo printing or personalized gift service

Print quality starts with your file. Low-resolution photos saved from messaging apps or social media often look soft when printed large. Most services warn you about low-resolution images during upload; take that warning seriously before ordering a canvas or poster.

• True cost: "free" prints often come with shipping charges or a required app subscription. Check the total.
• Preview: look carefully for cropping and the spelling of names and dates. Personalized items usually cannot be returned.
• Color: screens are brighter than paper, so prints may look darker. Some services apply automatic correction you can turn off.
• Privacy: read how long uploaded photos are kept and whether the company uses them for anything else.

Sending original photos or tapes

Services that digitize prints, slides, film or video tapes usually need you to mail the originals. Ask how items are tracked, whether they are insured, how long they will be away and how they come back. Copy the most important photos before sending, and use tracked shipping.

On CandorRated, each company page shows who runs the website, how long its domain has existed, the contact details we found and reviews from other customers, including how returned originals arrived.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my printed photo look darker than on screen?

Screens give off light while paper reflects it. Raising brightness slightly before printing can help.

Can I return a personalized gift?

Usually only if it is faulty or does not match your approved design. Check the preview before you confirm.
