10 Top Test Prep & Tutoring Companies

What to check before you pay for test prep or tutoring

Start with the exam or subject. A course built for a professional licensing exam works very differently from a homework help app or a flashcard tool, so look for material that names your specific test and its current format.

• Billing model: many study apps sell monthly or yearly subscriptions that renew automatically. Note the renewal date when you sign up.
• Pass guarantees: read the conditions. They often require you to finish every lesson or practice test before you can claim a refund or extension.
• Tutor details: for live tutoring, ask how tutors are chosen and whether you can switch if the fit is wrong.
• Free trials: check whether a card is needed and how to cancel during the trial.

On CandorRated, each company page shows who runs the website, how long the domain has been registered and which contact details we found, next to reviews from other learners.

Common problems and how to avoid them

Frequent complaints involve charges after a trial ended, and online tests that are free to take but ask for payment to see the result. Before you start any quiz or assessment, look for the price of the result and any subscription attached to it. Keep cancellation confirmations by email or screenshot.

Homework help tools can be useful for checking work, but schools have their own rules on what counts as your own work. Check them first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel a study app subscription?

Cancel in the same place you paid: the website account settings, or the app store if you subscribed on a phone. Deleting the app does not stop billing.

Are online IQ tests accurate?

Online quizzes are not the same as a test given by a trained professional. Treat their scores lightly, and check the price before you answer the questions.
