How to choose an online grocery supplier

Grocery companies here include online supermarkets, bulk and wholesale suppliers, spice and specialty shops, and home water delivery. Some deliver locally from stores; others ship nationwide or use drop points.

  • Substitutions. Decide whether you accept replacements for out-of-stock items and set that preference.
  • Freshness and cold chain. Ask how chilled and frozen items are packed and how long they spend in transit.
  • Minimum orders and fees. Wholesale and bulk sellers may require large orders or memberships.
  • Drop points. Some suppliers deliver to group pickup sites on set days. Check the schedule.
  • Water delivery contracts. Read the terms on bottle deposits, dispenser rental and cancellation.

Missing items, short dates and other complaints

Customers report missing items, products close to their expiry date, damaged packages and difficulty ending delivery contracts. Check the order at the door and report problems with photos straight away. Note the dates on bulk buys. Before ordering from an online shop you do not know, look it up on CandorRated: company pages show who appears to run the site, how long the domain has existed, the contact details we found and reviews from other shoppers. Filter by country or city to find suppliers that deliver to you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a refund for missing items?

Report it through the store's app or website soon after delivery.

Can I cancel a water delivery contract?

Usually, but there may be a notice period or equipment to return.
