3 Top Meal Kit Companies

What to look at before subscribing to a meal kit

Meal kits send ingredients and recipes; prepared meal services send cooked dishes to heat. Most work as weekly subscriptions with a deadline for changing or skipping each order.

• Weekly cutoff. Note the day and time when each order locks. Missing it usually means you are charged.
• Skipping and canceling. Check that you can skip weeks and cancel online without phoning.
• Introductory pricing. First-box discounts end. Look at the regular price per serving.
• Dietary needs. Check allergen information and whether meals are made in a kitchen that handles allergens you avoid.
• Delivery and packaging. Confirm your area is covered, and ask how the box stays cold and which packaging can be recycled locally.

Billing and delivery problems to avoid

The most frequent complaints are charges after customers believed they had canceled, missing ingredients and boxes left outside too long. Take a screenshot of your cancellation confirmation. Report missing or spoiled items with photos soon after delivery. Each CandorRated company page shows how long the domain has existed, who appears to run the website, the contact details found and reviews from other subscribers. Filtering by country helps, since many services deliver only in certain regions.
